“10” Tip to Successful Home Healthcare Accreditation

Accreditation in health care is the process of demonstrating that an organization meets an elevated standard of performance. There are three bodies that provide accreditation to homecare, skilled homecare, hospice and palliative care, and each has a different variety of providers for whom they provide accreditation and consultative services. These are:

  1. Joint Commission at jointcommission.org
  2. Community Health Accreditation Program, Inc. (CHAP) at chapinc.org
  3. Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc. (ACHC) at achc.org

This performance is confirmed by an open and honest examination in all aspects of business from board relations to finance, hiring, and onboarding remotely using Orientation and In-service training of new personnel and the actual provision of quality care while maintaining a safe environment for patients or clients.

Surveyors can provide invaluable advice on issues or processes that the organization is working on through their quality improvement programs.

Overall, the reason an organization strives to be recognized as accredited is to demonstrate to the market that they take their business and care seriously. Their focus is on the consumer and using the best practices, cutting-edge education, human resource management and business practices.
